At Manhattan Loft we are fortunate enough to have our own example of Thomas Scheibitz’s work, Altes Spiel, displayed in the reception at Edison House. Scheibitz was born in Radeberg, Germany and now lives and works in Berlin. He does not conform to a particular artistic movement, nor does he offer a representation of reality. Instead, he can be described as an individual, an anomoly, providing his own unique perception of the world around him. Through the removal of all extraneous detail, Scheibitz is known to render complex scenes as simplistic abstractions of shapes and hues, a technique well represented in our example displayed here.
