The world’s oldest working film studios is entering phase two of its glorious revival under Manhattan Loft Corporation and co-owners Fragile Films and Idea Factory.
Ealing Studios is the iconic home of British film and an international institution. Dating back to 1902, the studio’s legendary productions range from the hallmark ‘Ealing comedies’ of the post-war era to classic sitcoms and sketches like Doctor Who, Porridge and Monty Python.
Phase one of the development, in time for its 100-year anniversary, upgraded and augmented the Grade II listed sound stages with extensive new studio space and cutting-edge production facilities. A rejuvenated Ealing Studios quickly lured today’s film-makers and screenwriters back to West London, joined by music producers, makeup artists, songwriters and visual effects specialists.
Over the past 15 years, Ealing’s latest creative community have been behind Oscar-winning films, groundbreaking animations, Grammy-nominated albums and award-winning TV series. Quintessentially British productions such as Downton Abbey, Harry Potter and The Kings Speech are heralding a new golden age for the famous studios.
The latest development of the 3.8 acre site is an Art Moderne-inspired streamlined design of smooth white walls and curved glass façades, adding a further 82,000 sq ft of contemporary studio, workshop and office space. By 20XX. Ealing Studios will have completed its transformation into a sprawling state-of-the-art hub uniting the best of British film, TV, music and technology under one iconic roof.
