Manhattan Loft Corporation brought California cool to SW6 in the shape of Fulham Island

This flamboyant mixed-use development by award-winning architect Piers Gough rejuvenated Fulham Broadway, attracting the media and fashion industries that still flourish today.

A cutting-edge fusion of retail, office and residential space, the development incorporates Grade II listed buildings alongside new build elements. Fulham Island’s centrepiece is a private tropical garden, dotted with palm trees and fountains, evoking a brand of outdoor living more associated with West Hollywood than West London.

The £9 million redevelopment was a complex project overseen by English Heritage, conjuring 34 luxury apartments and 5 spectacular penthouses from a long-derelict plot in the heart of Fulham. The building’s multi-coloured façade and eclectic array of architecture kickstarted the area’s subsequent spirit of regeneration.
